Mandu is the Korean word for dumpling and mandu soup is a popular soup in South Korea. In this episode of Waecookin’, Rachel teaches Paul how to make Duk Mandu Guk (Rice cake dumpling soup) and Paul puts his western twist on the mandu to come up with his own dish. What is he going to do? Whose will taste better?

1:00 – Ingredients needed to make mandu soup.
3:14 – Step 1: Bring the broth to a boil.
3:34 – Step 2: Cut the roots off the Enoki mushrooms.
4:00 – Step 3: Add the dumplings to the boiling broth.
4:31 – Step 4: Add the sliced rice cake to the broth.
5:13 – Step 5: Mix and add the eggs to the pot.
6:10 – Step 6: Add the green onions to the pot.
6:38 – Step 7: Add 1/2 a table spoon of Perilla oil.

Ingredients for mandu soup.

– 1 bag of frozen mandu (dumplings)
– Enoki mushrooms
– 2 or 3 cut green onions
– 2 eggs
– 2 cups of beef bone broth
– 1/2 cup of sliced rice cake (optional)
– 1/2 spoon of Perilla cooking oil
– salt and pepper

Ep 3:Kimchi Bokkeumbap: How To Cook Korean Food! (Kimchi Fried Rice) 김치 볶음밥

Bokkeumbap translated means fried rice (Bokkeum = fried, bap = rice). Kimchi Bokkeumbap combines kimchi with fried rice and other ingredients and is found in most restaurants in South Korea due to the cheap ingredients and being quick and simple to make. In this episode of Waecookin’, Rachel teaches Paul how to make Kimchi Ham Bokkeumbap and Paul comes up with a western twist that could change the game on how Korean’s make and eat their Bokkeumbap! What is he going to do? Whose will taste better?

0:56 – Ingredients needed to make Kimchi fried rice.
3:30 – Step 1: Cut the green onions into thin slices.
4:36 – Step 2: Add a splash of oil to the frying pan.
5:14 – Step 3: Use a paper towel to spread the oil in the pan.
5:19 – Step 4: Add the green onions to the frying pan. Stir and cook until you can smell the onions.
8:04 – Step 5: Add the ham to the frying pan.
8:45 – Step 6: Cut and add the kimchi to the frying pan.

11:52 – Step 8: Add the soy sauce and red pepper powder to the frying pan.

Ingredients for Ham Kimchi Fried Rice

– 1 bowl of kimchi
– 1 bowl of cooked rice (using less water so it’s not as sticky)
– 2 or 3 green onions
– 5 table spoons of soy sauce
– 3 table spoons of red pepper powder
– 1 bowl of diced ham (or meat of choice/ or vegetables)
– cooking oil

Extra Ingredients for Egg Moat Kimchi Fried Rice
– 2 eggs
– Grated cheese

Extra Ingredients for Westernized Fried Rice Dish
– 1 bowl of chopped broccoli
– grated cheese

Ep 2: Bulgogi: How To Cook Korean Food

Bulgogi (literally meaning fire meat) is a popular Korean style of meat believed to have originated from the Goguryo era.  Bulgogi is prepared by marinating thin slices of beef and grilling them.  In this episode of Waecookin’, Rachel teaches Paul how to make Bulgogi and the marinade used for it.  Paul comes up with his twist for Bulgogi to westernize it.  What is he going to do?  Whose will taste better?

0:56 – Ingredients needed to make bulgogi
2:10 – Step 1:  Cut the onions
2:53 – Step 2: Making the marinade sauce for bulgogi
4:57 – Step 3: Sprinkle the brown sugar over the meat and leave for 10 minutes.
5:29 – Step 4: Cut the green onions.
6:41 – Step 5: Add both onions to the marinade sauce and mix.
7:12 – Step 6: Pour the marinade sauce over the meat.
7:33 – Step 7: Massage the sauce and meat together.
8:00 – Paul tells us what British people think about bulgogi, Korean food, and where he is from.
9:44 – Step 8:  Marinate the meat for one hour in the fridge.

Show Ju: A New Game Show (쇼주: 게임쇼)

Show Ju is a new game show that will be on our youTube channel this coming August, 2017.

This will be a Korean game show, hosted by a Korean, both in the Korean and English languages.
The show will have two foreigners competing against each other in three different types of rounds of trivia knowledge on Korea.
SoJu also plays a big part in this game as if you get a question wrong, you do a shot of soju, however, if you get the question right, the other does a shot!
